CLINICAL CASE

Invisalign System

This patient went to the clinic to solve the lower crowding that she presented, which gave her a complex when it came to smiling. Before starting the treatment, we carry out the photographic, radiographic study and the clinical examination of the patient. As we could see in the images, his teeth were not aligned and had some rotations. In addition, other not-so-obvious problems had to be addressed, such as increased overbite (when closing, the upper teeth completely covered the lower teeth) and the deviation of the lower midline from the upper (that is, the midlines were not coincident).
The patient wanted to correct her teeth, but wanted to use a system that would guarantee maximum aesthetics. In other words, since he did not want anyone to see that a treatment was being carried out, he was offered to treat his dental problem with the Invisalign system, which is totally transparent, hygienic and comfortable. In fact, Invisalign is one of the most aesthetic systems on the market. It consists of a series of transparent splints that fully adapt to the shape of the teeth in such a way that they are practically imperceptible even at short distances. In addition, another advantage is that the patient can remove their covers to eat and clean their teeth as they do on a daily basis.

Before and after treatment

His treatment lasted a total of 15 months. Now our patient presents a much more harmonious smile, her teeth are fully aligned, her midlines are coincident and, in addition, she can clean her teeth much better. Once the treatment is finished, our center provides all patients with 2 types of retainers: on the one hand, the fixed retention is placed, which consists of a thin sheet of wire that passes through the inner face of the teeth and, on the other so much is not seen. On the other hand, they are given a removable retainer (Essix) that is also transparent and that they must wear for a few hours a day (usually at night). In this last phase, it is very important to instruct and motivate patients to guarantee their collaboration and thus be able to maintain the results of the treatment carried out. In addition, we will take care of checking that your retentions are in perfect condition when you go to your check-up appointments, which will be carried out periodically during the first year after treatment.
