Caries, periodontal disease and tooth wear are the three causes of tooth loss. Patients suffering from these diseases often suffer the consequences of the loss of the dental pieces. After dental loss, the jaws suffer a progressive loss of bone that makes it impossible to place fixed teeth using dental implants. Sometimes bone grafts are used to reconstruct the lost bone, but waiting time required to get the bone graft to “solidify” and allow placement of the dental implants range between 6 to 12 months.
Zygoma® implants are the ideal solution for jaws with little bone, because they allow us to place fixed teeth in a day, without bone grafts and without hospitalization.
A 53-year-old patient who had lost all of his upper teeth and had no bone to place implants in a conventional manner. After a study and evaluation of her jaw bone with 3D technology, zygoma® implants were placed. In the period of 24 hours, temporary fixed teeth were placed, which enabled the patient to quickly and effectively recover the masticatory function, aesthetics and self-esteem. The final photograph shows the naturalness and design of the definitive fixed prosthesis.
