Know your predisposition to periodontitis

At Pronova Clinic, we go the extra mile to offer our patients the best and most comprehensive service possible, and we work daily to improve their quality of life through oral health. With this goal in mind, we advance and develop methods and treatments to ensure your oral health and avoid any potential problems by anticipating them in advance.

A clear example of our commitment to this is the genetic and microbiological tests we offer our patients. Through this test, we can check if a person is genetically predisposed to oral diseases like periodontitis (or pyorrhoea).

What does the test entail?

This genetic test, extremely useful for detecting, preventing and treating periodontitis in advance, is both advisable and easy to perform; a saliva sample is all that is required. We take the sample, and in a lab in Madrid, we study the patient’s genetics and determine if they have a predisposition to getting the disease in the future.

Similarly, a microbiology test is also done, which lets us analyse the bacteria in the patient’s saliva. This can provide information on the origin of the disease as well as how serious it would be should the patient get it.

It is important to remember that periodontitis or pyorrhoea is a very common and painless disease that affects the gums resulting in bone loss in the area surrounding the teeth, making them more likely to move and later fall out. Its symptoms are bleeding and receding gums, as well as halitosis and the aforementioned movement.

In our clinic, we offer periodontitis or pyorrhea treatments, to keep the periodontitis under control. Furthermore, thanks to the genetics test, we can anticipate and cure the disease in its early stages.

Similarly, in order to your heal gums everything makes a difference, and one of the most important things you can do is focus on the daily care of your mouth. You can find more information on gum care and other related issues by checking out Periodontology on our blog.
