Removable and fixed orthodontics

Orthodontic appliances can be divided into fixed appliances and removable appliances. The fixed technique consists of elements attached to the teeth (bands and brackets) to which metal archwires are connected. The brackets can be metallic or transparent. The latter are used when the patient’s esthetics is a priority.

Removable appliances, as their name suggests, can be removed from the mouth by the patient himself. Among their advantages we would highlight their greater aesthetics, comfort and ease of hygiene, although they require greater cooperation.
